Christmas Party

Sunday, December 8, 2013
2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
CBEC Classroom #126

Mark your calendars! The St. Louis Horticultural Society is having their annual Christmas Party.

The Hort Club decided to have chicken fromHodaks Restaurant  this year. All members are asked to bring a dish, appetizer, or dessert to share.

Don’t forget to bring a wrapped gift for the gift exchange.

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS:

The Christmas party was well attended even though the weather outside was very cold. Everyone had a great time! The food was delicious and our “Rob Your Neighbor” was fun. This year there was quite a bit of stealing but everyone still ended up with nice gifts. We had poppers, good conversations and cheer, and everyone who came received a gift from the Hort Society. We wish everyone a wonderful 2014 in gardening and in life.

Among the points covered are composting, mulching, water conservation, recycling, integrated pest management, and soil improvement.

Refreshments and door prizes appreciated.

October Meeting:

Sunday, October 20, 2013
2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Botanical Room

Gay Brown has prepared a program entitled “From Cape Town to the Cape of Good Hope” for the October meeting. She has pictured taken at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, along the coast of South Africa, wild flowers and a few animals. If time allows, she has pictures from Old Nectar, a private garden reputed to be one of the best in South Africa. Come and enjoy a beautiful country!

Meeting Highlights: Gay gave the club a wonderful presentation from her trip to South Africa. She had several interesting stories as well as many amazing photos. We were all captivated with her presentation. We learned about flowers and trees we never even knew existed. Thanks Gay for the informative and entertaining afternoon. Everyone enjoyed it immensely!
