Archive for November, 2012

Sunday, November 11, 2012, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Garden Room, Missouri Botanical Garden

Our November meeting will be hosted by member Jaye Gregory. Jaye enjoys growing orchids and has offered to help us understand how to keep orchids happy in our mostly northern homes, which ones will probably never do well for us & how to decide if a bargain plant can be saved reasonably easily.

Refreshments and door prizes appreciated.

New members WELCOME!

Meeting Highlights:

Wow! The Hort Society was really treated with an informative meeting. Jaye really knows her orchids!  We learned everything from light and roots to watering, fertilizer, and everything in between. Jaye gave everyone thoughtfully prepared handouts with helpful hints and useful sites. I think we all have a better understanding now and hopefully we will grow healthy beautiful orchids. Thanks Jaye for a super meeting!

Welcome to fall and the cooler weather. Our members Dorie and Larry Rose will be doing a presentation on how to make a Kodedama Moss Ball, also known as Japanese Moss Ball. Kodema is a green moss covered type of bonsai. This is a hands on demonstration so helpers will be recruited. The finished balls will be raffled off at our meeting.

Refreshments and door prizes welcome.

Meeting Highlights:

Dorie and Larry did a wonderful job, as always, hosting our meeting. The Kokedama moss balls turned out beautiful and several members happily brought them home. We also celebrated our Society President Jim’s birthday. He was surprised!
